Bahía Grande / Bahía Azul: Location and surroundings of this property
The neighborhood of Bahía Azul/Bahía Grande is located about 20 minutes from Palma and approximately 15 kilometers from the town of Llucmajor. It has everything one needs for daily life: supermarkets, restaurants, banks, sports area, medical center, etc. It also has a small bathing area comprised of s'Arc de Sant Martí, Roca des Milans and Racó de s'Almadrava. It reaches its highest point at Cap de la Regana (100 meters above the sea). This coastline is characterized by impressive cliffs that drop down to the Mediterranean Sea. One can access the bathing area at Es Pujador des Frares and Es Pas des Vero. Over the centuries these roads, now tarmacked, were the access to the coast for fishermen, pirates and, above all, smugglers. These cliffs were also used for extracting the local sandstone which has soft golden or pink hues, a constant in the Majorcan landscape and were used for the construction of Palma Cathedral (Ses Pedreres de la Seu).
