Sineu: Location and surroundings of this property
Situated in the heart of the island, only 30 minutes from the centre of Palma, the airport and the beaches. Sineu is one of the most popular villages for foreigners who are interested in authentic Mallorcan life without sacrificing comfort. Its market, held every Wednesday, is one of the most visited and appreciated on the island. In addition to the typical stalls, you can find a wide variety of food, clothes, books and animals of all kinds, being the only livestock market on the island. It has about 4,000 inhabitants and a wide range of culinary offerings, as well as numerous cafés, hotels, a pharmacy, a train station and a sports centre. Some of the best-known restaurants include Tomassini, a restaurant that opened in 2003 and specialises in pizzas and pastas, and the Molí den Pau restaurant, which combines traditional Mallorcan and signature cuisine. It also has several interior hotels, such as Ten Mallorca - a family-run luxury boutique hotel with a total of 10 rooms. The old parish church stands out, with its seven-storey bell tower. Next to the church of Santa Maria there is a small museum with a collection of medieval pottery, which can be visited on market days. You can take a nice walk through the streets of Sineu, looking for its old wells, the crosses or the olive branches adorning its façades, as well as its old Cellers and manor houses. Its old mills can be seen from a large part of Mallorca, a reminder of the importance of cereal cultivation in its lands.
