Marratxí is a municipality that comes under the "Raiguer region and is only 5 km away from Palma. It includes the areas of Marratxinet, Sa Cabaneta, Portol, and Es Caülls. It has over 35.000 inhabitants, which makes it one of the most populated municipalities in Mallorca. It’s set between Bunyola, Santa María and Palma de Mallorca. Marratxí is well-known for its popular fair at Sant Marçal, which is held on June 30th, and has a large influx of visitors seeking handmade pottery, which the town is renown for. The fair displays a variety of pottery crafts (casserole dishes, crockery, glassware and the traditional "Siurell" figures). The most popular spots in the area are the "Archaeological Sites", Sant Marçal Church, the Hermitage of Peace and its Pottery Museum (Museu de Fang). Marratxí is very well connected by road, highway and train. It’s close to the large Alcampo hypermarket and Mallorca Fashion Outlet leisure centre. Palma centre and the airport can be reached within a 15 minute’ drive, as well as nearby beaches.
