Alaró: Location and surroundings of this property
The picturesque town of Alaró is located in a quiet valley between two well-known mountains at the south of the Sierra de Tramuntana. It’s set in the centre of the island and has currently over 5,000 inhabitants. Palma is within a 20 minute drive, as well as the nearest beaches and the airport. This small, yet lively town has numerous restaurants, supermarkets, schools, chemists, banks and much more. It stands out for its ancient architecture and the narrow cobbled streets in the oldest part of the town, which offer a traditional charm, as well as the nature that surrounds it. Its inhabitants of all types of nationalities provide it with a magnificent cultural diversity. One of the best-known places is the Castell d'Alaró, which has stunning views of the Majorcan countryside and the bay of Palma, and is about two hours walk away from the town centre. Alaró is well-chosen by cyclists and hikers since it has some of the best routes on the island. The most important industry was the footwear industry, which had over 30 factories. Nowadays the Tony Mora workshop can still be found in Alaró, which is worldwide known for its handmade cowboy boots.
